Grandma's Swiss Bread

1 c. butter
1 c. water
3 c. milk
6 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
5 tsp salt
Pinch cloves
2 T yeast
2 T sugar
½ c. warm water
15-18 c. flour

Melt butter in water. Add cold milk and heat to lukewarm. Mix together eggs, sugar, salt, and cloves in large bowl. Dissolve yeast in ½ c. warm water and add 2 T sugar. Let sit 5 min. Mix all ingredients together then add flour 1 c. at a time until it makes a soft dough. Knead thoroughly. Let rise until double. Cut dough and braid. Put in buttered pans and let rise again. Bake at 350 for 30 min.
